Acrylic on canvas, 36 x 36 x 1.5"
The title from this piece is from a song by my favorite Canadian band, The Tragically Hip:
Well, Tom Thomson cam paddling past,
I'm pretty sure it was him
And he spoke so softly in accordance to the
growing of the dim
This painting continues exploring the theme of water as a portal to another realm, as disguiser extraordinaire of all that is below and can so easily be swept away.
It gives a nod to the Canadian artist and outdoorsman who was an avid fisherman and canoeist. His work greatly inspired me as a youth. His paintings, along with the paintings of the Group of Seven, influenced me to pursue art more seriously around the age of 12.
